UploadFilm

Our story

Made on set,
not in a boardroom.

UploadFilm started in September 2026 to bring a bit of sanity back to the worst part of every shoot: the bit after β€œthat's a wrap”, when the footage is still on a card and everybody wants it.

It started on a Tuesday night. I had 80 GB of raw footage on an SSD and a producer who needed it in a few hours. Dropbox said it would take most of the night. WeTransfer wanted me on a paid plan and would delete it in a week. So I sat there watching a progress bar, too nervous to format the card, thinking: there has to be a better way to do this.

Who we are

Hi, I'm Jorge πŸ‘‹ I've been writing code since I was 10. My sister broke my PlayStation 2, so I went next door and our neighbour Daniel showed me how to build a website. It felt like magic, and I haven't stopped since.

I studied computer science in Madrid, then worked on products at Amazon and at Eventbrite (right through its IPO). After that I joined StreamYard, the live-streaming studio, as engineer #2, and became its founding growth PM, helping take it past $50M a year before it was acquired. So I've spent a good part of my career building video tools for creators.

These days I live in San Francisco and make launch films and product videos for startups. Big lights, small crews, a lot of 4K. If you've ever stood in a studio at midnight watching a progress bar, we've met, sort of.

Why we started

Every shoot ended the same way. A card full of footage, a Dropbox upload crawling along (we clocked it at 5.6 Mbps on a line that can do four times that), an editor texting β€œany news?”, and me too scared to format the card because nothing could tell me whether every file had actually made it.

Meanwhile the tools filmmakers rely on kept getting bought. Frame.io went to Adobe in 2021. WeTransfer was acquired in 2024, and Vimeo in 2025. You know how that story usually goes: prices go up, every seat gets counted, and the thing you loved slowly stops feeling like it was made for you.

So we built the one we wanted. πŸ™‚

Our mission

Be the friendliest way in the world to get footage from set to post. No catch, no seat tax, no links that quietly self-destruct after seven days and take your shoot with them.

  • βœ“Your footage is sacred. Nothing is marked safe until every byte is proven identical. Nothing expires. We never delete what you didn't.
  • βœ“Bring the whole crew. Director, editor, producer, client, the DIT you met this morning. Nobody pays for a seat; you pay for storage.
  • βœ“Fast is the feature. Every connection your line can take, proxies first, so dailies happen tonight and not tomorrow.
  • βœ“Made by someone who shoots. If something about it annoys you on set, it annoyed us first, and we'll fix it.

Time to ditch the progress bar.

Free up to 50 GB. No card, no seats, no catch. πŸ˜‰
